i have got "tp-link tl-sf1005d 5-port 10/100mbps unmanaged desktop switch" network switch, have pi, desktop running fedora , windows 7 machine.
i wondering how connect 3 devices can form network.
depending on purpose of experiment, may need ethernet cables connect pi, win7 , fedora server via switch.
if need route network traffic through fedora server, have have 2 different network cards in it, 1 functioning wan, 1 lan. because tp-link "switch", not router. so, not handle network management, packet switching. see how network configuration done, read on lhn (linux home networking) site, has set of howtos network configuration. see dhcp guide example.
if, however, more file sharing, check out samba (http://www.howtoforge.com/setting-up-a-linux-file-server-using-samba). depending on requirements, pi can either use samba client connect share, or nfs connect fedora server. lhn site has guide well.
