i'm trying make algorithm finds roi of latent fingerprint. there no need minutiae extraction or image enhancement (though may necessary), needs find region of image contains actual fingerprint. have tried several approaches, applying local ridge orientation , binarization , thinning try find way identify roi. results have been lackluster @ every turn. i've tried read lot of books , papers on subject, vague @ best. thoughts on how achieve this? programming in python
