android - Where are the options to control a Button's background? -

i have thought there variety of options in connection button's background image, example image tiled, or stretched or centred etc etc, when list button's methods can't see anything. i'm suspecting 2 stage process, perhaps getting kind of view first , using method of view. or maybe there no control whatsoever concerning button background. please advise.

note view's background fills area covered view, can't have centered.

stretching the default behaviour, that's why state list of 9-patches the best thing use button's background.

if want tiled background, may use xml bitmap tilemode="repeat". see other kinds of drawables on site. can example make feels centered background image using inset drawable.
